What is the connection between the Bible and catastrophism?  Catastrophism posits that the world we know today is the result of recent, sudden, global changes of the Earth and the planets.  The Bible also tells of recent, sudden floods and  earthquakes that represent the intrusion of God, Jehovah, into the ‘natural’ world.  These events are one and the same. Catastrophism merely explains how Jehovah uses the physical laws to perform His miracles.  We name these laws after Newton and Einstein and claim them as our own, but these are Jehovah’s laws, and were used by Him long before sentient humans ever existed.

Uniformitarianism is the antithesis of catastrophism.  It suggests that the Earth only changes on a time scale of hundreds of millions of years and the other planets have been in their current orbits for billions of years.  The present denial of catastrophism by the academic world, in favor of uniformitarianism essentially places the academic world in direct opposition to Christianity.  Amazingly, Jehovah, speaking through his disciple Peter, clearly foretold this situation and that it would attain in the last days:

(2 Pet 3:3-7 KJV)  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

That is, God not only caused the recent catastrophic events that shaped the world, but now maintains the world in its present, quiescent state until the day of judgement of “ungodly men,” the scoffers or academicians.

The Bible was prepared by Jehovah, speaking through his prophets, to narrate his relationship with mankind.  It includes a number of ‘spectacular’ events which are rightly attributed to God’s (Jehovah’s) intervention in the world.  It covers only the time when mankind existed on the Earth, beginning some 6,000 years ago (~4000 BC), not the original creation of the Earth 3.9 billion years ago.  But the Bible does give hints that 13,000 years ago, He prepared the Earth for the advent of mankind, by causing the Moon to be captured in its orbit:

In Job 25:5 the grandeur of the Lord who “Makes peace in the heights” is praised and the time is mentioned “before [there was] a moon and it did not shine.”

Psalm 72:5 it is said: “Thou wast feared since [the time of] the sun and before [the time of] the moon, a generation of generations.”

The dramatic result of stabilizing the Earth against wild deviations of the poles, which resulted in climatic extremes such as the ice ages, is obvious in the smooth, warm temperature profiles of the Earth shown in the Greenland ice cores, immediately following the Younger Dryas YD to Holocene transition.

A spectacular physical event immediately preceded the events depicted in Genesis.  A giant asteroid impacted the planet Jupiter (at the site still marked by the Great Red Spot) and the rebounded plasma cloud, thousands of times larger than Jupiter itself, condensed to form a new roiling-hot terrestrial planet, proto-Venus.  In a highly eccentric orbit, it disrupted the entire inner solar system, and within a few decades it made two close passes by the Earth.  These scorched the Earth and overturned the lithosphere twice, causing the oceans to rush across entire continents, killing all but a very few of the inferior hominid species present on the Earth at that date.  Genesis begins with a description of the Earth immediately after this great destruction as follows:

(Gen 1:2 KJV)  And the earth became without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This is characteristic of most Biblical treatments of miraculous (catastrophic) events.  That is, their origins, the causitive astronomical bodies, are left unexplained, or deliberately hidden.  Thick clouds from proto-Venus and from every volcano enveloped the Earth for years.  But as the clouds dissipated, the Sun and stars became visible. These events are all described in Genesis 1.

The rampaging proto-Venus also had ‘innumerable’ close encounters with the most ancient terrestrial planet, which I call priori-Mars, eventually ejecting it from its original orbit, similar to that of Venus today, into one which intersected that of the Earth.  This resulted in an improbable resonance between the three planets that persisted for 3,000 years.  Priori-Mars would be captured in a geostationary orbit (in October), stationary above the Transhimalayas, where it would remain for fifteen years and then be released, due to the tidal effects of the Sun, Moon and proto-Venus at its inferior conjunction, which occurred at the vernal equinox, into its planetary orbit for fifteen years.  This cycle was repeated 100 times!  The Bible records that first capture in the following words:

(Gen 1:6-8 KJV)  And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The very word ‘firmament’ (Hebrew raqiyia) implies a solid surface and it is difficult to understand how it could have been interpreted as the ‘sky.’  Priori-Mars was a much more ancient planet than the Earth by some 800 million years and was full of life at that time.  It was covered with vegetation, had a thick atmosphere, oceans, and was populated by a species of great intelligence.  It was called the ‘great green’ in Egyptian texts.  The tidal force of the Earth drew all the waters in its northern hemisphere, which faced the Earth, to its north pole.  These were ‘the waters’ referred to above. Tidally induced volcanism gradually raised the land at its north pole above the waters during each encounter.  This was the firmament (land) which rose in the midst of the waters.

The timing of the events recorded in Genesis implies that the resultant ‘wiping clean’ of the inferior hominid species which populated the earth up to that date, was a necessary prelude to the creation of Homo Sapiens Sapiens.  Ironically, archaeologists have identified this great destruction as a water-shed event, the beginning of the Bronze Age, but have no idea how complete the devastation was, because they believe that the many artefacts left behind by the subhuman species, such as simple tools, woven cloth, copper axes and graves, prove they were human.  But the thoroughness of the destruction is evidenced by the fact that the 300-year Bronze Age I (BA I) is called the ‘silent period’ – because no artefacts have been found from that period. This was the time necessary for the repopulation of major cultural centers, education and socialization of the earliest of mankind.  Another archaeological name for the BA I, the ‘pre-urban’ period emphasizes the  extreme and sudden increased intelligence of Homo Sapiens, out of which sprung ‘almost overnight’ the great civilizations in Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Indus Valley.

Given the advanced state of priori-Mars, and the fact that it remained in orbit only 33,000 km distant from the Earth for fifteen years at a time, implies that it would have been a simple matter for its beings to travel back and forth to the Earth, bringing perhaps all of the creatures and the seeds of every plant on that planet to our world.

The previous, almost complete slaughter of the inferior Earth species by proto-Venus provided the perfect opportunity to introduce a new species on Earth.  This was done by upgrading the DNA of the few survivors in all different parts of the world.  Thus mankind was created in the image of the ‘elohiym while at the same time ‘from the dust of the ground.’

(Gen 1:27 KJV)  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

(Gen 2:7 KJV)  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

It is possible that mankind was originally created on priori-Mars, since there was a large tree-like volcanic formation that arose there which was easily seen from the Earth.  This may have been the ‘garden of Eden’ from which Adam and Eve were banished.  It was definitely the Atlantis of Plato.

Generally speaking the Bible downplays the many cosmic events that were occurring from the time of Adam to Isaiah.  Jehovah set these planets in their resonant motion in order to rejuvenate the Earth, but he hated people worshiping them, that is, failing to recognize his power.  They are referred to many times in the Bible, as Baal, Asteroth, the ‘Host of Heaven’ and ‘principalities and ‘powers in heavenly places.’  But He also utilized them to implement a number of significant ‘miracles,’ at which instances priori-Mars was called an archangel or Malach (one who is sent to perform a task).

The details of the cosmic encounters reveal the intricacy of God’s plan.  Priori-Mars remained in its geosynchronous orbit for fifteen years at a time.  Then a close inferior conjunction of proto-Venus occurred at the vernal equinox, releasing it into a planetary orbit where it remained for fifteen years, until the following October.  This cycle was repeated one hundred times! – for a reason.  The purpose of these one-hundred encounters was to rejuvenate the Earth by transferring the entire complement of water, oxygen and vegetation (as manna) originally on priori-Mars, to the Earth.  Because priori-Mars’ north pole remained pointing toward the Earth as it orbited, only the volatiles in its northern hemisphere could be captured during each encounter.  The periods spent in its planetary orbit allowed the water and atmosphere remaining on that planet to be globally redistributed so that more would be available for transfer to the Earth during the next encounter.

The Flood of Noah
Each time priori-Mars was captured in a geostationary orbit over Mt. Kailas (now in Tibet), its tidal force drew the waters in the surrounding hemisphere toward that point.  This caused massive flooding in populated areas, such as Egypt, Canaan, and Mesopotamia, as the Mediterranean and Red Seas were emptied and their waters flowed across the land toward northern India.  Unknown to this day, the Egyptian pyramids, the tels, and ziggurats throughout the Middle East were ‘lifeboats’ giving refuge from these floods, which normally lasted a few days.  The transfer of volatiles from priori-Mars to the Earth occurred primarily at the times of alignments of the pair with the Moon and more strongly when the Moon and the Sun were close to alignment.  On many occasions great deluges fell to the Earth and enormous masses of water accumulated in basins in Tibet.  After a great amount of water had accumulated in these basins, the next capture helped breach their containment, so that those waters added to the tidal flooding, and eventually a rupturing of the Gibralter uplift allowing the influx of the Atlantic ocean.  Somehow, a confluence of events resulted in a great flood of the eastern hemisphere – this was the flood of Noah, perhaps around 2200 BC.

The Exodus
The best known Biblical miracle is the story of the Exodus.  When priori-Mars orbited the Earth, it remained stationsary in the heavens directly over the Trans-Himalayas because it was in a geostationary orbit.  Its tidal force had sequestered all the water from the Mediterranean and Red Seas as close as possible to that location, due to the limits of terrain elevation, essentially inundating northern India.  Each time It was released from this orbit at the vernal equinox in the fifteenth year after its capture, due to the tidal forces of the Sun and Moon and proto-Venus,   Thus at the time of the Exodus the Red Sea was completely dried up.  On these occasions the solid core of priori-Mars was forced out through the great 4000 km feature still visible on Mars, called the Valles Marineris, dropped into an eccentric orbit moving rapidly around the Earth toward the East, while the mantle drifted slowly to the west toward the Middle East.  The two bodies, moving in opposite directions around the Earth both brought with them a tidal surge which brought the waters into the Red Sea from two directions, causing the sudden flood which destroyed Pharaoh’s army.  The frequently mentioned ‘column of smoke and fire’ was the primary volcanic feature at the north pole of priori-Mars and was also the ‘tree of the knowledge of good and evil’ in the garden of Eden mentioned previously.  As the mantle of priori-Mars drifted westward this fiery column was at first seen before the Israelites and then between them and the Egyptians.  This glowing, smoking volcanic column was referred to at least four times in connection with the Exodus as God’s stretched-out arm or hand:

(Exo 6:6 KJV)  Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

(Exo 7:5 KJV)  And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

God told Moses not to go north where there was a land passage out of Egypt (where the Suez canal is now located), but rather “through the wilderness of the Red Sea”, because He wanted to use the release of priori-Mars, the exact time of which he knew beforehand, to show his power in decimating the Egyptian army.  Actually the description of the Red Sea as a wilderness hints at its dried-up state at that time.

Passover
An even more common reference to the releases of priori-Mars, which occurred every thirty years, was the Passover (Pesach).  The releases occurred at the time of the year when the Sun and the Moon were closely aligned, maximizing their combined tidal force.  This occurs around the vernal equinox, which is exactly the time of the Passover celebration.  During what I call the Vedic Period, roughly the Bronze and Iron Ages, Venus was in an eccentric orbit which attained its inferior conjunction and aphelion every thirty years, also at the vernal equinox.  Thus the Passover referred to the passing of priori-Mars over the Middle East.

Ra’ash of Amos
Studying the preserved writings of biblical prophets from about seven hundred and fifty years after the Exodus, Immanuel Velikovsky uncovered a sequence of events spaced at fifteen years, which were called ra’ash in the Hebrew Bible.  This word has been translated in various English terms, including ‘earthquake,’ but sometimes involved flooding.  As a result, Velikovsky used the generic term ‘commotion,’ which seems wholly inadequate.  Because of the apparent lack of mention in the Bible of associated astronomical events, he was never able to document the causes, although he did a tremendous amount of research attempting to prove that they were close encounters with Mars.

In the eighth century, in the days of Uzziah, king of Jerusalem, the prophet Amos predicted such a commotion two years before prior to its occurrence.  In fact, the Biblical book of Amos is devoted primarily to the prophesying of this event, which Velikovsky dates at 747 BC.  The Bible speaks of “a great tumult,” that “He (the Lord) will smite the great houses with breaches and little houses with clefts.”  Also

(Amos 5:8-9 KJV) He who maketh Khima and Khesil …. and calleth the waters of the sea and poureth them out upon the face of the earth”.

Velikovsky believed that Khima and Khesil were Saturn and Mars respectively.  Unfortunately, this identification led to a fruitless branch of Velikovsky followers who adopted a ‘Saturn’ hypothesis.  The planet Saturn was not a player in the cosmic chaos, but the name, possibly a Greek name for the column on priori-Mars, was transferred to the planet after the chaos ended.   Additional Biblical corroboration of the global scale of these events is given:

(Amos 8:9 KJV)  And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

Based on the mention of flooding and the shortening of the day, this ra’aash occurred at the date of a capture of priori-Mars, which always occurred in October.  When it approached the Earth, it was intact and caused flooding as the waters in the Mediterranean and Red Seas were drawn across Canaan and Israel as well as Mesopotamia and Egypt toward the Transhimalayas.  Accommodating priori-Mars in a geostationary orbit over the Trans-Himalayas, forced the rotation of the  Hudson bay area to a temporary north pole.

These dire prophesies made Amos very unpopular and he was persecuted and killed before the ra’ash, but it did indeed occur.  As a result of his prophecy, the people fled from the populated areas at the time and many were saved.  Each capture and release required a new calendar, one of which was introduced in 747 BC.  The reason for this was that the added angular momentum of priori-Mars, when tidally linked to the uplifted Tibetan-Himalayan complex, slowed the Earth’s rotation so that there were only 360 days per year during each encounter.  These changes had been going on since the original capture of priori-Mars around 3700 BC.  For example, the first Olympiad, some 29 years before this, marked an earlier astronomical encounter in 776 BC.  Although this is not mentioned in the Bible, Amos likely had experienced that and an intermediate one fifteen years later (761 BC), giving him confidence to prophesy so strongly.

Ra’ash of Isaiah
Isaiah, following Amos, painted an apocalyptic picture of Israel fifteen years later, in 732 BC.  He prophesied a great tumult or a shoag, a global disruption.  It would include earthquakes, a darkening of the sky, shifting of the positions of the heavenly bodies and loud sounds from heaven.  Micah, another prophet of the time, predicted that marvelous things would happen as in the days when Israel left Egypt.

(Isa 10:26 KJV)  And the LORD of hosts shall lift up His rod (His extended arm) upon the sea … after the manner of Egypt.

This commotion occurred on the day which King Ahaz was buried.  It is described in the Talmud, in the Midrashim, and is referred to in the records of the Sanhedron.  Velikovsky writes:

It appears that a heavenly body passed very close to the Earth, moving, as it were in the same direction as the Earth on its nocturnal side.

Also Isaiah writes:

(Isa 24:6 KJV) … therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

The quotations above imply that this ra’ash resulted from the release of priori-Mars.  Due to the combined tidal forces of the Sun and Moon and the inferior conjunction and aphelion of proto-Venus, the solid core of priori-Mars was forced out through the Valles Marineris, dropped into a lower, eccentric orbit moving eastward, while the mantle drifted slowly westward.  In these instances ‘half’ of the water sequestered in northern India followed each of the bodies in opposite directions, resulting in a tidal flow to the East and West converging in the Mediterranean and Red Seas, as in the flood of the Exodus, when the Phaorah’s army was destroyed, but did not result in the general flooding of the entire Middle East (Levant) that occurred at each capture of priori-Mars.  Thus the reference in Isaiah 10:26 above.  It was the red hot solid iron core of priori-Mars which “passed very close to the Earth, … moving in the same direction as the Earth” “therefore the inhabitants of the Earth are burned.”  This was Hathor in Egyptian texts that was sent by Ra to destroy men ‘hiding in the desert.’  These releases allowed the Earth’s mantle to return to its normal rotation about the north pole. Egyptian myth explicitly states that the solid core caught up to the outer shell in eight days and reentered it as the body returned to its orbit of the Sun.

Ra’ash in 14th year of Hezelkiah’s Reign
Much less is stated in the Bible concerning this encounter. Since priori-Mars had departed Earth fifteen years prior, this event, in 717 BC marks another capture, implied by the emphasis on flooding.  Velikovsky suggests the following verses concern this ra’ash:

(Isa 28:17-18) … the waters shall overflow the hiding place. … the overflowing scourge shall pass through.

(Isa 28:22) A consumption even determined upon the whole Earth.

Ra’ash of Sennacherib’s Defeat
There has been a long standing controversy among biblical scholars concerning the number of Sennicherib’s campaigns against Judah, due to the combined records presented in Isaiah 36-38, II Kings 18:13-16, II Chronicles 32:1-6 and in the Assyrian cuneiform Taylor prism, which touted all of Sennacherib’s campaigns.  Velikovsky believed that there were two campaigns against Jerusalem. Because he knew the first campaign was in 701 BC, he guessed that the second campaign was in 687 BC, fifteen years later.  He then searched for evidence in other cultures for reports of unusual astronomical events in that year.  However, based on the new understanding of the two alternating types of events, the captures and releases of priori-Mars, which he never understood, the destruction of Sennacherib’s army had to have taken place at the date of a departure of priori-Mars, that is 701 BC, because, as explained below, it was at the times of release that its mantle drifted over the Middle East.

Sennacherib laid seige to Jerusalem in the time that Hezakiah reigned and he sent his lieutenants who spoke Hebrew and demanded all the gold and precious jewels of the Israelites as a ransom, or they would destroy the city and kill everyone.  But he made the mistake of insulting Jehovah, saying he was just as weak as the gods of the other cities which they had conquered.  This incensed the Lord and he responded as only the Lord can:

(Isa 37:29 KJV)  Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

(Isa 37:33 KJV)  Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

To Hezekiah the Lord said:

(Isa 38:6 KJV)  And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.  

Then the Lord sent a ‘blast’ from heaven in the form of a thunderbolt, the overpressure of which killed Sennacherib’s entire army.

(Isa 37:36 KJV)  Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

One verification that the blast which decimated Sennacherib’s army was a result of a thunderbolt is that when priori-Mars was in its geostationary orbit, the Earths mantle was forced to revolve about an axis near Hudson bay, which allowed the Trans-Himalayas to be on a temporary equator.  This had happened fifteen years earlier in the fourteenth year of Hezekiah’s reign.  When it was released, the mantle spin axis shifted back to the current north pole.  This shift was prophesied through Isaiah from the Lord as a sign that he would destroy Sennacherib.

(Isa 38:7-8 KJV) And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken; Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

Velikovsky states that the blast was delivered by a Malach, translated as an angel or archangel which means in Hebrew “one who is sent to execute an order”.  The Talmud and Midrash sources all agree that the Assyrian host was destroyed by a blast from the sky.

“Their souls were burnt, though their garments remained intact.”  The phenomenon was accompanied by a terrific noise.  Further corroboration that the blast corresponded to a release of priori-Mars comes from Herodotus, the Greek historian, reports that, in an Egyptian city called Letopolis, he observed a statue of a man with a mouse in his hand.  The association of a mouse with the release of priori-Mars makes ultimate sense in the new catastrophism.  The mouse was proto-Venus, which was at its closest inferior conjunction every thirty years, around the vernal equinox.  A number of ancient texts confirm that the destruction of Sennacherib’s army occurred on the 23 of March (the modern calendar date).  Proto-Venus tidal force, ín addition to the Moon and Sun, was necessary for extracting the solid core of priori-Mars and, because it was still very hot and out-gassing at the time, its large comet-like  ‘tail’ resemblence that of a mouse.  This same ‘tail’ was the reason why the Egyptian Sed Festivals, held at every 30-years at the times of these releases, was called the Festival of the Tail. Further corroboration comes from the fact that the Egyptian city of Letopolis, which was also saved by the blast, was designated by the hieroglyph meaning ‘thunderbolt.’

Thunderbolts?
In the Vedas, priori-Mars was called Indra (Lord) and in their mythology there were 99 or 100 Indras and his ‘home on Earth was (above) Mt. Kailas [in Tibet]. Indra was praised primarily for ‘releasing the waters.’  This was due in part to the melting of subsurface rock and its subsequent rising toward the surface through many cracks caused by earthquakes in the area, warming it and melting the glaciers in the Himalayas.  Indeed, to this day Tibet is underlain by a heretofore unexplained layer of melted rock.  But Indra’s most obvious action in this regard was his loud and blustery battling with Vritra, the mountain glaciers, characterized as serpents lying in the mountain passes.  His adjuncts in these battles were the Maruts and Parjanya.  The Maruts were hot rock bodies ejected from priori-Mars which fell some 33,000 km to the Earth and impacted the glaciers.  However, the energy released by at least some of these impacts was increased enormously by a phenomenon which is completely unknown to modern science – thunderbolts.  Thunderbolts resulted when the hot rock bodies created a conducting path from the ionosphere directly to the Earth, resulting in an electrical discharge of unimaginable power.  The resulting blasts were so powerful that they broke up the glaciers and pieces of them were washed down into the valleys.  During the Vedic period the Earth was quite unstable.  The Vedas say ‘even the mountains had wings.’  In this environment it was reported that some thunderbolts caused entire mountain ranges to suddenly disappear into the Earth and another to rise up somewhere else.  Sennacherib’s downfall was the result of such a thunderbolt triggered by a hot body falling from priori-Mars as it drifted over the Middle East.

The End of Cosmic Chaos
These consecutive ra’ash separated by about fifteen years, corroborate the Biblical catastrophism advocated by the author.  Based on the pairs of encounters, about which Velikovsky or anyone else had no knowledge, the destruction of Sennacherib’s army marked the final release of priori-Mars from geosynchronous orbit.  This occurred in 701 BC.  Velikovsky speculated that there was one more encounter in 687 BC, citing what sounds like a colossal meteor shower at that date, but if there were an encounter at that date it would have been a capture and not a release and would have requred another event to mark the end of the Vedic Period.

At the end of the book of Isaiah, written between 701 and 681, God acknowledges that he has brought the period of cosmic chaos to an end, as follows:

(Isa 66:22 KJV)  For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Having expended all its volatiles to the Earth, the final release occurred when the solid core exited priori-Mars and was deflected, first by the Moon and then by Venus into the inner solar system, where it is now called Mercury, and thought to be a complete planet by the ‘scoffers.’  While the lithosphere, mantle and the remainder of the liquid core collapsed and drifted outward to become the diminutive Mars, also thought to be a complete planet.

Thus unbeknownst to mankind, the Lord has enormously increased the volume of the oceans, allowing rain to support mankind, increased the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere far beyond what it was 6,000 years ago, and rejuvenated the biosphere of the Earth with the seeds of tens of thousands of flora, in manna, soma, ambrosia, and haoma, which fell around the world. This demonstrates the reality of Gods Common Grace.

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
